Fundamentals

Fundamentals is the financials, ratios, estimates, and peer-comp surface inside the Research dossier — full income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow on quarterly or annual cadence, plus a metrics grid covering valuation, profitability, leverage, and liquidity ratios.

Fundamentals is the financials surface — three statements (income, balance sheet, cash flow), a metrics grid with valuation/profitability/leverage/liquidity ratios, analyst estimates with consensus high/low, earnings surprises with beat-vs-miss history, and a peer comparison strip. It lives inside the Research dossier as a set of tabs on /research/:symbol, but the depth and shape of the data warrant their own reference page.

What it is

A single consolidated financials surface. The quote, profile, and baseline metrics (P/E, EPS, dividend yield, 52w range, average volume) sit alongside deeper ratios — forward P/E, PEG, EV/EBITDA, margins, ROE/ROA/ROIC, debt/equity, current/quick ratios, beta, payout ratio, short percent float, SMAs. The three financial statements (income/balance/cash) are available on annual or quarterly cadence, along with country/sector/industry classification, analyst estimates, and peers — including for foreign tickers.

Dividend and split history covers ex-date and amount, with payment/declaration/record dates filled in where available for both Nasdaq- and NYSE-listed names.

When to use it

Before any swing trade longer than a day. Pull the 5-year financials and look at revenue trend, gross margin direction, and free cash flow generation. Pull the analyst estimates and look at where consensus sits vs. last quarter's print — earnings revisions matter more than the absolute number. Pull peer comp and see if the multiple is stretched or compressed vs. the cohort. Before an earnings trade, pull the surprises history — companies that have beat for six straight quarters tend to beat again; serial missers tend to miss.

Open it

  • Path: /research/:symbol — open the Financials (F), Estimates (E), or Peers (P) tab. The Overview (O) tab shows the metrics grid alongside the chart and AI workflow buttons. There is no standalone /fundamentals route — fundamentals data is surfaced through the Research dossier
  • Shortcut: ⌘4 jumps to Research; O/F/E/P switch tabs once inside
  • Tier-gate: Free shows 4 quarters of financials; Pro unlocks 20 quarters (5 years); Terminal unlocks the full available history (typically 40–80 periods). The metrics grid, peer comp, and estimates aren't separately gated — the Pro/Terminal gates apply to statement depth and to the AI Briefing

How to use it

  1. Open /research/<TICKER>. The header shows the live quote, extended-hours mark (when applicable), and the chart.
  2. Tab to Financials (F). Pick Income Statement, Balance Sheet, or Cash Flow. Toggle Annual vs. Quarterly. Line items down the side, periods across the top.
  3. Tab to Overview (O) for the MetricsGrid — valuation, profitability, leverage, liquidity, and trading metrics in one panel.
  4. Tab to Estimates (E) for analyst revenue and EPS forecasts — current quarter, next quarter, current year, next year — with consensus, high, low.
  5. Tab to the Earnings Surprises view for prior-quarter EPS estimate vs. actual, with surprise percentage and BEAT/MISS tag.
  6. Tab to Peers (P) for the comp strip — top 5 peers side-by-side on P/E, FWD P/E, ROE, margins, D/E, beta, EPS.
  7. Use the [ COMPARE ] button in the header to load any second ticker for the side-by-side metric strip.

Limits

  • Period depth: Free 4 quarters, Pro 20 quarters (5 years), Terminal full history (typically 40–80 periods)
  • Financials refresh on the order of minutes, not seconds. Restated 10-Qs lag the original filing by ~3 days while the numbers reconcile
  • Restatements overwrite the prior value — there is no diff view between original and restated numbers
  • Foreign issuers without 20-F filings: financials may return empty rows; check the Filings tab for the latest period
  • Recent IPOs with under 4 quarters of reporting history won't fill the free 4-period grid
  • Analyst estimates: capped at 4 forward periods, plus price-target consensus
  • Peer list: top 5 by classification — picked automatically, not user-editable here
  • Earnings surprise history: up to 4 quarters by default
  • Earnings call transcripts and implied-move sit under the Earnings tab — Pro+
  • Dividend / split history covers ex-date and amount, with payment/declaration/record dates where available for Nasdaq- and NYSE-listed names. Thin OTC payers will have gaps
  • Squeeze score card draws on short-interest and borrow data — coverage is top-25 by composite score
  • Compare mode: metric strip only — no statement-level side-by-side diff. Use /compare?symbols=A,B for deeper diffs

Troubleshooting

Financials tab shows Loading… indefinitely. No financials were returned. Common on foreign issuers without ADR reporting, pre-IPO names, and symbols that just changed CUSIP. Check Filings for the most recent 10-Q — once it's on file, the financials usually catch up within 24 hours.

Quarterly cadence shows 3 quarters when I expect 4. The most recent quarter hasn't filed yet — only reported periods are shown. The missing quarter typically appears within 24 hours of the 10-Q.

Net margin is colored green but the company is unprofitable. Color rule is > 15% green, < 0 red on the most recent period. A TTM-unprofitable company with a one-time gain in the latest quarter will paint green. Read the row, not the chip.

Peer comp is missing — only the focus ticker shows. No peers were available for this name. Common on foreign issuers, ETFs, and ultra-niche industries. Use /compare with manually-picked tickers.

Market cap doesn't match another source. Market cap here is computed from shares outstanding × last price. Discrepancies usually trace to diluted vs. basic share counts — sub-1% on most names.

EV/EBITDA shows -. This metric is blank when EBITDA is negative or enterprise value can't be calculated. Use P/S as the substitute.

SqueezeScoreCard shows N/A. The ticker isn't in the squeeze pipeline's top-25 by composite score. See the /squeeze leaderboard for in-coverage names.
