Dashboard

The Dashboard is the first screen after you sign in. It puts the major indexes, the most active stocks, sector moves, market mood and the week's economic releases together, so a quick look tells you whether the market is calm, stretched or under pressure. Signed-in accounts also see their own watchlist moves and upcoming earnings.

How to read the index strip

1. Look at the row of six cards at the top: Dow Jones, Nasdaq, S&P 500, Russell 2000, Bitcoin and Euro. The first four show the tracking funds DIA, QQQ, SPY and IWM.
2. Read the small label under each price. It tells you the session: PRE-MARKET, OPEN, AFTER HOURS or CLOSED. Bitcoin says 24h TRADING and the Euro says FOREX OPEN.
3. Outside regular hours, an extra PRE, AFTER or O/N figure shows how far the price has moved in that session.
4. Click a card to go deeper. The index cards open the stock's research page, Bitcoin opens Crypto and Euro opens Forex.
5. Check Updated … ago under the strip to see how fresh the numbers are. On a phone, pull down from the top of the page to refresh.

How to open any stock from the Dashboard

1. On a computer, press / to jump to the bar under the index strip, or click it.
2. Type a symbol such as AAPL or BRK.B. Pick a suggestion or press Enter.
3. The stock's research page opens.

The bar is hidden on phones. Use the search icon at the top of the screen instead.

How to check market mood

1. Find Fear & greed (the CNN index) in the right-hand column. The bar runs from Extreme fear to Extreme greed, with the current reading marked.
2. Under it, choose 1D, 1W, 1M or 1Y to change the history line. It starts on 1M.
3. Look at Breadth just below. It splits the market into advancers and decliners as percentages, so you can see whether a rally is broad or narrow.

How to see the world and the week ahead

1. Scroll to World markets for Europe, Asia and the Americas. Markets that are closed are dimmed and show the time of their last price. View all opens the full list.
2. Find Economic calendar for this week's releases, with time, actual, estimate and previous values. Click View all to open the Economic page, or use the Calendar page for earnings too.
3. Sector performance and Heatmap show which parts of the S&P 500 are leading. The Heatmap on this page shows today's move only. Use the Heatmap page for other ranges.

How to change the scrolling ticker bar

The bar of prices across the very top of every page is yours to edit.

1. Open Settings and choose Preferences.
2. Find Top ticker bar and type your symbols, separated by commas. Use $VIX, $DXY and $TNX for the volatility index, dollar index and 10-year yield, and BTC for Bitcoin.
3. Click Save ticker bar. The change follows you to your other devices.
4. Click Reset to defaults to go back to SPY, QQQ, DIA, IWM, VIX, DXY and TNX.

How to see what changed since you left

Sign in. When you come back after a break, a since you left strip near the top lists what moved in your names while you were away. It only appears when there is something to show, so a quiet gap means no strip.

Signed-in accounts may also see a Tape Score card that links to your Journal, an overnight movers card before the open, and a one-tap card to set your first alert.

Good to know

• Free accounts get live data. Visitors who are not signed in see delayed data and a shorter list of movers, and the watchlist boxes ask you to sign up.
• On a phone, your watchlist and news come first, and the index strip wraps into two columns.
• The Dashboard is free. The AI What's moving it summary shows only for signed-in accounts that have already used Tapeboard for a while.

If something doesn't work

• A panel says NO_DATA before the open: movers and sectors fill in once trading starts. Check again after 4:00 AM ET for pre-market names.
• The Heatmap says it can't load: wait a moment and refresh the page.
• Watchlist boxes are locked: sign in, then add tickers on the Watchlist page.
