Compare

Overlay up to ten tickers as a single normalized % chart — the way you can see one symbol actually outrun another, not just that both went up.

Compare draws every selected ticker's percent return from the same starting point on the same chart. That normalization is the whole feature: you can finally see *who outperformed whom* regardless of last price, currency, or market cap.

Compare — NVDA, AAPL, AMD, SPY all normalized to % return since the window starts
Compare — NVDA, AAPL, AMD, SPY all normalized to % return since the window starts

When to use it

  • Relative strength: my picks vs SPY this quarter — did the basket actually beat tape?
  • Pair selection: two competitors, same window — is the leader consolidating or running away?
  • Thesis sanity-checks: foot-gas ticker vs its own sector ETF over the earnings week.

How to run it

  1. Open /compare.
  2. Type a symbol, press Enter — it's added with a color from the cycle.
  3. Add more the same way — up to 10 tickers.
  • Resolution row (top right): 1D daily bars (window: 1M/3M/6M/1Y/5Y) or intraday 1m / 5m / 15m / 30m (window: today / 5 trading days).
  • Legend (right): per-symbol latest normalized value — hover a line to isolate it in the legend.
  • Click a ticker's ✕ to remove it.

The math

Each line is (priceAtT / firstPriceInWindow) − 1, as a percent. Same arithmetic for every line — that one rule is why "amd +12% while nvda +28%" reads without squinting.

Limits

  • 10 symbols max (the page enforces)
  • Intraday resolutions cap at 5 symbols at 1m (bandwidth)
  • Pre/post-market windows included only if the symbol's feed has them
  • No saved compare "scenarios" yet — the URL holds the list; bookmark or share it that way
  • Charts — the full single-symbol surface
  • Correlation — "move together" answered with a matrix instead of "same shape" by eye
  • Research — per-symbol deep dive one link off the compare
